Dr Amrit is a Lecturer in Qualitative Methodology and Autism-related Oral Health Research in the School of Dentistry at the University of Leeds and a Chartered Psychologist (CPsychol). Her research aims to improve child oral health outcomes through rigorous qualitative research and the development and evaluation of complex interventions. She specialises in qualitative methodology and in the co-design and evaluation of oral health interventions grounded in the lived experiences of children, families and professionals. Her work is underpinned by inclusive research practices and meaningful patient and public involvement, ensuring that children and families shape the design and delivery of interventions. She is the Project Lead for toothPASTE, an oral health support package designed to improve oral health outcomes for autistic children by supporting families to establish optimal oral health habits. She also contributes to postgraduate supervision and teaching in Applied Qualitative Health Research within the Faculty of Medicine and Health and is actively involved in public engagement relating to child oral health.
