Study of PhOTobiomodulation implementation for musosITis management in children.
SPOT-LITE is a NIHR funded PhD research study being undertaken by Claudia Heggie (a Paediatric Dentist) and team. The research looks at how best to implement photobiomodulation (PBM) treatment as part of standard care for children and young people during their cancer treatment.
The study uses implementation science approaches to understand what makes PBM services work in different settings and why. This information has fed into the co-design of an implementation resource with children and young people, their families, and healthcare professionals. This resource is currently being tested in different paediatric cancer and transplant centres, aiming to improve the availability of PBM for children during treatment.
