Aims

We want to transform our understanding and support for children and young people living with and beyond life-threatening illnesses in early childhood.

We will:

Undertake randomised clinical trials to assess interventions targeted at improving short-term and long-term outcomes in newborn babies.
Use available datasets to investigate relationships between factors such as deprivation, congenital anomalies and maternal health to identify healthcare gaps and research needs.
Investigate potential interventions for improving outcomes in those at highest risk.
Work with partners (e.g. social care and education) to study and support transition into school.
