CHORAL (Child Health Outcomes Research at Leeds) is a network of child health researchers and allied professionals across University of Leeds, Leeds Teaching Hospital Trust and the wider region. We want to reward excellent research and inspire the next generation of leaders in child health research.
We are delighted to announce the second annual Simon Newell and Leeds Hospitals Charity Child Health Research Prize scheme, brought to you by CHORAL.
We are welcoming applications under two categories:
- Postgraduate Prizes
- Undergraduate Prizes

Postgraduate Prizes
We are offering two prizes for child health research outputs from post-graduates working or studying at the University of Leeds or Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trusts.
We are inviting applications from post-graduates from any background who have published a paper, or presented a poster or oral presentation at a conference or seminar related to child health since February 2024.
To apply please download and complete the postgraduate application form and email it, along with an attachment containing the work itself to choral@leeds.ac.uk by 12noon Thursday 6th March 2025.
Undergraduate Prizes
We are offering prizes under the following categories:
- nursing students
- health care professional students
- medical and dental students
- academic undergraduate student prize for any student outside of the other 3 categories (e.g. psychology, education, epidemiology, lab-based etc)
To apply, you must be a current undergraduate student at University of Leeds or an employee/placement student at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust studying in a child health related undergraduate course.
You can submit any piece of undergraduate work they have produced related to child health in the academic year 2024-2025.
To apply please download and complete the undergraduate application form and email it along with an attachment containing the work itself to choral@leeds.ac.uk by 12noon Thursday 6th March 2025.
